My memory is not the best but my earliest memory I can recall of Literature is second grade when we did a unit on the book Rainbow Fish. My teacher, Mrs. Mills, would read aloud to us during our center time and then we would partner read. We also designed our own rainbow fish and provided a biography of our fish’s personality.
Since then I have been challenged with more challenging pieces of literature. The most recent encounter is a love story by Francine Rivers entitled Redeeming Love. It was an amazing book that was parallel to the book of Hosea.
The most significant text that I have read is called The Search for Significance by Robert S. McGee. It is a self help that helps Christians realize if they find their self worth through performance, and the approval of others. I really struggled with these issues while growing up playing sports. This book has helped me overcome these problems and find myvself worth through God alone.
While pursuing a degree in education, I have realized how much literature matters. It helps us relate to each other and history. Literature reflects so much about the given time that it is written about that will help people in the future understand our culture just as we have been able to do the same people in the nineteenth century. It allows some people to be expressive along with providing entertainment for readers to use their imagination in whichever way they choose.
